What is Respite?
Parents of children with special needs would describe 'respite' as ultimately, a gift of time. Such a simple concept; time, but when you are a family with special needs, 'time' is anything but simple. Whether you need time to run errands, enjoy an evening with your spouse, or just take a break from your daily routine, it all falls under 'respite'.
Respite care creates the time caregivers need to restore their own well-being. It allows parents time to reconnect and it gives siblings their much-needed time in the spotlight. Respite care opens new doors where children with special needs can safely explore their community and creates opportunities to make new friends.
The Respite Group knows it is not easy to take time, but we also know it is necessary. It's necessary to give parents time to re-energize so they can be their best selves and in return care for their family. It is necessary for siblings to have quality time with their parents and experience activities they would not otherwise be able to attend. It is necessary for your child with unique needs to expand their care circle and open their world to new experiences and relationships.
At the Respite Group, we get it, and we can help.
Please note that we are not enrolled with the State of MN licensed 'Respite' options and as they would define "respite care". We are a private service that provides caregiver relief.
